Location of non-stationary forced oscillation (FO) sources can be a challenging task, especially under resonance condition with natural system modes. In this case, the magnitudes oscillations could greater in places distant from source and spreads over large region power system. Detection, frequency identification filtering FO oscillatory components constitutes an initial critical step for application location (OSL) methods. Specifically, has major impact on performance OSL method, such as Dissipating Energy Flow (DEF) method. paper we develop systematic methodology detection, based multi-channel time-frequency (TF) representation (TFR). We compare three TF approaches applied together DEF method: short-time Fourier transform (STFT), STFT-based synchrosqueezing (FSST) second order FSST (FSST2). have used simulated signals real world PMU data to show that proposed method provides framework systems oscillations.
